Information for Prospective Artist Members

The Winthrop Gallery is a cooperative gallery staffed entirely by its member artists. Members must be able to spend one day a month operating the gallery. If you are interested in becoming a member we ask that you submit samples of your work to the gallery’s jury committee for consideration.

To do this, bring from three to six representative samples of your work to the gallery during regular business hours. The gallery is open from 11:00am to 5:00pm on Thursday through Monday during the winter, and from 11:00am to 6:00pm Wednesday through Monday during the summer. Please provide original artwork that is ready to display. Include prices and any other information you think is relevant for jury consideration.

Call Mary Powell at (509) 996-2393 and let her know that your artwork is at the gallery ready for review. Mary will contact you within two weeks to notify you of the jury’s decision.

Artists who are accepted into the gallery must sign a member contract and pay a one-time joining fee of $35. The gallery’s scheduler will then help you sign up for your first work day at the gallery and the gallery’s training staff will teach you how to operate the gallery.

Please bring any new artwork to the gallery by the third week of each month for hanging. Note that you are responsible for creating labels for your artwork. The gallery will provide you with a sample label and formatting information. Also please note that if your new work is substantially different from your previous work it may need to be re-juried.

Thank you for your interest in our gallery and we hope you will consider joining us!
